Hubu the King – Crossborder theatrical Show in Greece

The Interreg V-A Greece-Italy Programme, in cooperation with Interreg Cross the gap project celebrates the 2019 edition of the European Cooperation day through a crossborder theatrical show that involves young people with disabilities and not.
The show will be held in:
  • Bitonto (Italy) – Traetta Theatre on 24 September 2019 h. 20.00
  • Amaliada, Municipality of Ilida (Greece) – Cultural Center on 28 September 2019 h. 20.30
The performance is the final show, led by Tonio De Nitto director and Fabio Tinella of the Factory TransAdriatic Company, financed by Cross the gap project, after several cross border workshops (an acting and scenography workshop in Italy, a music workshop and a tailor’s workshop in Greece) that have involved, during the last summer, young people with disabilities and not, residing in the Puglia Region and in the Region of Western Greece.
The show turn around Alfred Jarry’s “Ubu the King” masterpiece which on this occasion is renamed Hubu the King to underline the presence of disability, usually communicated with with the letter H.

Cross the gap project’s main goal is to support the social inclusion of people with disabilities in Italy and Greece, by combining physical accessibility and wider fruition of cultural activities.

The Municipality of Bitonto leads the project partnership, composed of the Municipality of Lecce, Factory Theatre Transadriatic Company, the Region of Western Greece and the Municipality of Thermo. The Ephorate of Antiques of Ilia (Ministry of Culture) takes part to the project as associated partner.
