The Piribus (bus of the Pyrenees) celebrated the ECDay in Jaca (Spain) on Saturday 21 September. The bus is a travelling exhibition seeking to bring visitors closer to the shared identity of the Pyrenees mountains. It focuses on natural and human sciences, and the four main exhibition spaces are dedicated to geology, landscape, biodiversity, and ethnography.
Throughout the day, neighbours and passers-by gathered around the Piribus, learning about cross-border cooperation within the European Union. The event was celebrated in a festive atmosphere and in music, thanks to the presence of the band “Gaiters de Chaca”. As well as activities for children and a photo rally, participants could enjoy Aragonese migas, a local culinary specialty.
About 200 people attended the event, which was opened by the Mayor of Jaca, Juan Manuel Ramón; the President of the Comarca del Alto Gállego, Lourdes Arruebo; the project manager, Philippe Serre (Réseau Education Pyrénées Vivantes – LPO France) and Luis Tirado, the Aragonese delegate from SEO/BirdLife, the Spanish ornithological society.
